A world of no. Source: YouTube
FANS of Lena Dunham’s hit show Girls should get ready for a cringe-fest. It appears our beloved Shoshanna — aka actor and singer Zosia Mamet — used to want to be a rapper.
In a clip that was uploaded to YouTube only today but Jezebel reports was shot in 2010, Mamet and another young girl are shown in a very gritty music video, strutting the mean streets of New York and spitting rhymes in a style that makes Taylor Swift sound like 50 Cent.
Check it out for yourself — if you can make it past the 10-second mark:
Zosia Mamet raps
Weirdly enough, Mamet’s pre-fame stab at rapping has echoes of fellow Girls character Marnie’s journey on the hit HBO show. Marnie’s frequent attempts to show off her musical talent make for the most wonderfully cringe-worthy moments in the series, which will screen its fourth season early next year.
It seems that, in this case, truth is stranger — or at least funnier — than fiction.
