Kevin Park will serve a minimum of 22 years for causing Madison "horrific" injuries as he babysat the child at her home in Kelty, Fife

The former partner of child killer Kevin Park has caused outrage after claiming "sick lies" put him behind bars.

Park will serve a minimum of 22 years for causing Madison Horn "horrific" injuries as he babysat the child at her home in Kelty, Fife, in April.

Glasgow's High Court heard evidence that he repeatedly hit the two-year-old's head against a wall but Park tried to claim that she was hurt after falling from a bed.

Today Gemma Naughton, who has two children to monster Park, posted a series of messages on her Facebook page claiming he was innocent of the savage murder.

Ms Naughton, from Ballingry, Fife, wrote: "Ma kids r left without a f***ing dad coz of sick lies."

And the woman's family have also backed her claims with sister Nicole Naughton writing: "What about the 'accidents' Madison had before Kevin watched her? Did any of use (sic) live in that house tae?

"Who kens what went on before that night and on that night.

"Annemarie [Madison's mother] knew what he was like so why she even left the bairn with him I'll never know."

A cousin of Park posted: "Don't care how much sh*t I get in for this status - Kevin Park didn't kill Madison."

But the Naughton family's outbursts have caused revulsion and anger among the local community who are still trying to come to terms with the horrific murder of the tragic two-year-old girl.

Agnes Cunningham, from Lochgelly, Fife, said: "As if things could not get any worse for our small community.

"The murder is bad enough but to then try and claim it wasn't him after a court trial and all that evidence against him is just disgusting.

"I don't know what they think they can achieve by doing this but they should be thinking about the poor wee girl and her family at this time and not trying to cause trouble."

Murdered: Little Madison Horn

"And James Forrester, from Ballingry, added: "To say that scumbag Park is innocent just hours after being sentenced is beyond belief.

"A lot of people around here had a lot of sympathy for the Naughton family, but not after what they have written on Facebook.

"To think that Madison's poor family have to read all that crap on top of what they are already going through is horrific."

The tot's father, Thomas Haldane, told this morning of the final words he whispered to Madison as she lay dying .

Kevin Park, the boyfriend of Madison's mum Annemarie White, attacked two-year-old Madison Horn as he babysat for the child at her home in Kelty, Fife, on Easter Sunday.

The jury at the High Court in Glasgow were told Madison suffered 65 separate injuries during the attack, including a fractured skull and sever bruising to her head and body.

Park, 27, who punched and stamped on the defenceless two-year-old before battering her head off a wall on at least two occasions was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison.
