Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen tend to shy away from the red carpet, but the elusive Elizabeth and James designers, 28, made an exception for the 2014 World of Children Awards in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Mary-Kate, engaged to French banker Olivier Sarkozy, stuck to the Olsen norm of oversized fashion. She wore a wool cocoon coat, fur messenger bag, slouchy jeans, and booties.
Shockingly, Ashley strayed from their signature hobo-chic aesthetic, opting for a body-skimming maxi skirt, that showed a hint of her curves. Cream-colored stacked heels and a loose-fitting turtleneck finished off her refreshing look.

Famous since they were infants, nowadays the twin fashion moguls prefer to stay out of the glitzy celebrity scene. "There is a threshold in New York, and once you pass that and are considered a New Yorker, they leave you alone," Ashley said about their privacy in The Edit in October 2013.

"But we're at the office every day, then home or out to dinner, so they aren't the opportunities for them [the paparazzi] to take pictures. For the most part you try and avoid it… [I do], at least."
