THOUGHT this season’s big cheating saga between Lawson and Cat was bad? Turns out Australia’s Big Brother is fairly tame when it comes to our overseas counterparts.

Hardly surprising. When a bunch of super confident, super single guys and girls are locked in a house together for three months, things are bound to heat up — and they have. But who knew things got so scandalous in other countries?

Here are the most controversial Big Brother moments to hit TV screens since the show first aired in the Netherlands in 1999. You won’t believe some of them were aired.

1) Earlier this year on UK’s Big Brother, female contestant Kimberly Kisselovich was rushed to hospital after complaining of pelvic pain and was forced to leave the house as a result.

It was later revealed that the 23-year-old Playboy model had fallen pregnant with fellow housemate Steven Goode’s baby after a string of romps in the house. Doctors confirmed afterwards that Kisselovich had an ectopic pregnancy and lost the baby.

2) A lovely lady by the name of Kinga entered UK’s Big Brother season 6 as a secret housemate halfway through the series, and quickly became the most famous housemate of that year due to her dubious use of a wine bottle after one too many glasses of the stuff. Six years down the track she’s still known as “the girl with the wine bottle”.

Kinga later insisted BB producers forced her to behave outrageously and that she was only pretending to use the wine bottle for THAT purpose.

3) Season 5 of UK’s Big Brother in 2004 made headlines for the infamous ‘Fight Night’, when, on Day 20, police were forced to enter the house after being called by viewers to stop a mass brawl between housemates.

It all started with a playful food fight, and ended with trays thrown, plates smashed and a table overturned. “I’ll f*cking kill you,” one housemate, Emma yelled at a male housemate, before she was dragged away kicking and screaming by another.

Emma was later evicted. The very same season made history by crowning transsexual Nadia Almada the winner.

4) British journalist Liz Jones entered UK’s Celebrity Big Brother 13 and provided plenty of bizarre moments.

But this scene in the bathtub takes the cake, lamenting the loss of her dead cat and seriously worrying fellow housemate Luisa Zissman with her talk of drowning.

5) On the US version, beauty pageant co-ordinator GinaMarie Zimmerman landed herself in hot water during season 15 after referring to government assistance as “n*gger insurance”. She also commented that an Asian housemate “should be kissing our arse and serving us some rice.”

She was fired from her job before even leaving the house.

GinaMarie eventually posted an apology to fans on YouTube, managing to push out her social media channels at the same time.

6) English TV personality Vanessa Feltz had a meltdown on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2001 after being nominated for eviction. She started scrawling a string of unconnected words such as ‘incarcerated’, ‘diffident’, ‘disparate’, and ‘frustrated’ on a chalkboard. Her fellow housemates were convinced she’d lost the plot.

After leaving the house she accused the makers of the show of making her look like “Jack Nicholson out of The Shining”.

7) Former S-Club 7 singer Jo O’Meara became a public hate figure after leaving Celebrity Big Brother in 2007. Her treatment of Bollywood beauty and eventual series winner Shilpa Shetty was slammed as “racist bullying” and she was booed by the live audience as she exited the house.

A year later O’Meara had to be rushed to hospital after being struck by a glass bottle on stage while performing with her ex-band mates.
