Stunning Amy Gordon was left in tears following the wisecracks by a stand up comic
A dental nurse who was mocked by a comedian for being fat has shed an amazing 10 STONE.
Stunning Amy Gordon was left in tears after a stand up comic pulled her out of a crowd and began ridiculing her 18 stone frame.
Amy, 29, from Wolverhampton, used that harsh memory to push herself to lose weight, and ensured she had the last laugh when she was crowned Weight Watchers 2014 Cover Star Winner.
She said: "I was at a comedy show with my mates when the comedian started telling jokes about ‘fat girls’ and decided to single me out.
"‘Here’s one!’ he laughed, pointing at me, sitting in the second row. Suddenly all eyes were on me and the laughter grew louder. My night out had turned into a nightmare."
Friends of hers told her to ignore the comic's jibes, but his ruthless tongue had set off a spark inside her.
She said: "But that night at the theatre shattered me. From then on, all I wanted was to lose weight."
A period of yo-yo dieting followed, as Amy battled her food demons and fluctuated between 16 and 18 stone.
Reaching a size 22 at Christmas 2012, Amy finally made a decision that would set her on the right road and with the support of her husband Andy she joined Weight Watchers in December 2012.
Tipping the scales at a whopping 18st 5lbs, Amy immediately threw herself into the programme and in just a year, she had slimmed down to a size 14.
She said: "I hadn’t been that slim since I was about 12 years old and I started taking more interest in my appearance, like having my dark hair lightened was a big step."
Going on to lose a further 7lbs, Amy appeared in the December,/January edition of Weight Watchers magazine and is now celebrating being the cover star winner and weighing in at just 9st 7lbs.
She said: "On holiday this year in Tunisia, I wore my first ever bikini – in a size 10 – and, although I still felt a little unsure of myself, Andy told me I looked great.
"I’d continued having my hair lightened too – it was all part of my transformation process.
"I was even brave enough to go jet-skiing and paragliding. I really felt like a different person, and that feeling has remained ever since."
Amy's transformation comes after another woman told how a humiliating comment from her boyfriend forced her to lose 13 stone.
Paige Way, 22, was told by her former partner that she was too fat for sex during a romantic getaway for their one-year anniversary.
Miss Way, from Sydenham, south east London, immediately began eating and living healthy and in just over a year went from 23st to just 10st. On top of losing the weight, she also ditched the boyfriend.
