All an act? ... a line of former Big Brother housemates insist favourite-to-win Skye is faking her ditzy blonde act. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied
WHEN is a ditzy blonde not really a ditzy blonde? When she’s part of a cutthroat competition to win Big Brother and walk away with a few hundred grand.
That’s the claim of a line of former housemates who say bubbly Gold Coast coffee shop girl Skye is faking it, all to be the last woman standing.

The latest is intruder Tom Mackay, who was booted on Tuesday night after just 17 days in the house. While his stay was brief, the 26-year-old marketing manager is sure of one thing.
“Skye is definitely faking it,” Mackay said. “She does things to play up to the TV audience, to make sure she gets shown in the episodes that go to air. She’s quite clever at knowing what people will like.”

Despite her persona, he believes Skye is much smarter than she lets on — and she’s especially smart at playing “the Big Brother game”.

And what viewers aren’t seeing is Skye’s difficult side, he said. A number of evictees have spoken at length about what it’s really like to live with her.
“Look at the age gap. She’s a 20-year-old without much life experience, she hasn’t moved out of home … she’s had everything delivered to her on a silver platter.

If Skye is indeed executing a brilliant strategy, it’s working for her — she’s a favourite to win when Big Brother comes to an end in two weeks’ time.
If she does, the extroverted blonde will walk away with around $200,000 in prize money for her troubles.

Sydney nanny Katie Schepis, who was evicted in the first few weeks, also believed Skye was “putting it on a bit” while intruder Marina Rakovskaia concluded it was all a carefully crafted character.

Not real ... some housemates have described Skye’s relationship with intruder Leo as a “showmance”. Picture: Supplied Source: News Corp Australia
“She’s playing the young, blonde bimbo stereotype but she’s definitely not dumb,” Rakovskaia said. “She’s being strategic because she wants to win.”
Another topic of discussion among current and former housemates has been Skye’s relationships, which some perceive to be “showmances”.

That term relates to hooking up with the purpose of getting more airtime and connecting with viewers, who traditionally have favoured couples.

Skye originally had a crack at Jack Richardson, but shortly after he left the show she moved on to hunky Canadian-born intruder Leo.
COLOURFUL CHARACTER: Lisa Clark’s strip club work made her tough
And when Leo was banished to the sanctuary room for four days, Skye expressed her interest in fellow favourite Ryan.
