If only Cher really could turn back time. The iconic singer has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of her Dressed to Kill tour as she recovers from an infection, she announced "with enormous regret" on Thursday, Nov. 20.
According to a statement on her website, Cher was "felled by an infection that affected her kidney function" shortly before she was set to resume touring in September. "While her progress has been consistent," the statement read, "Cher's doctors have advised her to take more time to ensure a complete and total recovery."
The Oscar-winning superstar said she was "totally devastated" by the development, and hoped to make up the dates sometime in 2015. "Nothing like this has ever happened to me," she lamented. "I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets. I'm so proud of this show. It is my best ever. I sincerely hope that we can come back again next year and finish what we started."
She also expressed her regret on Twitter, telling her 2.36 million followers that she "tried SO HARD 2b Strong enough" but just couldn't get healthy in time.
"Let's talk about it tomm," she wrote. "Between gut wrenching Sadness of not being Able 2go on stage, sing, b Silly & wear new Mackie's & Mike [Nichols] Dying, I'm [heartbroken]."
