The 61-year-old transsexual boxing promoter will reveal sensational details of her horrifying ordeal in this weekend's Sunday Mirror
Boxing legend Kellie Maloney stared death in the face as she chased her dream of finally being accepted as a woman.
The 61-year-old transsexual is set to reveal sensational details of her horrifying ordeal and how she nearly lost everything.
She will tell how medics battled to save her life as she underwent major surgery to change her appearance.
In a highly emotional exclusive interview only in this weekend's Sunday Mirror, Kellie speaks for the first time about her brush with death.
The former boxing manager and promoter will “set the record straight” on her medical condition and her plans for the future as she seeks to take the final steps towards a full transition.
Shocking pictures of the aftermath of Kellie’s facial surgery just three weeks ago show how she came within minutes of death as surgeons were forced to carry out a life-saving procedure.
Speaking for the first time since being allowed out of intensive care, Kellie said: “It is time to set the record straight on what exactly happened.
“I’m lucky to be here and to be back with my family. But people need to know what happened so that this doesn’t happen ever again.”
Kellie made the seismic decision to come out as transsexual in the Sunday Mirror in August after years suffering with the secret agony.
She revealed how her whole life had been blighted by self-loathing as she carried the agonising burden of knowing she had been born into the wrong body.
As extrovert boxing showman Frank, she managed British fighter Lennox Lewis during his time as world heavyweight champ.
Despite fame and fortune, Kellie’s secret life had pushed her to the brink of suicide as she downed a cocktail of booze and prescription pills two years ago.
Following her revelations about being transsexual, Kellie was blown away by the positive public reaction and ground-breaking support from the macho world of boxing.

Kellie, who has been married twice and has three children, told the Sunday Mirror in August: “I was born in the wrong body and I have always known I was a woman.
"I can’t keep living in the shadows, that is why I am doing what I am today.
“Living with the burden any longer would have killed me.”
The Celebrity Big Brother star said: “I have a female brain. I knew I was different from the minute I could compare myself to other children.”
