The former couple will go head-to-head for the dubious honour at the annual event
Harry Styles and Taylor Swift have had a stories past together but it looks like there could be one more chapter to their tale.
The former couple are set to clash with both of them on the shortlist for the Villain of the Year 'prize' at the NME Awards 2015 With Austin, Texas.
The One Direction heartthrob has been the unenviable winner the last two years, but has stiff competition this time round in the form of his ex-girlfriend, who is also nominated in the Hero of the Year category.
We're not quite sure what either of them have done to deserve their nomination, but the Story of My Life boy band also took home the Worst Band prize in both 2012 and 2013 - and are on this year's list - so there is a trend emerging here.
The shortlist places them in the company of the likes of Russell Brand - who joins Taylor in both the Hero and Villain categories - and Bono, while Prime Minister David Cameron and UKIP leader Nigel Farage are predictable nominees.
On the subject of the more serious awards, Kasabian find themselves nominated for eight prizes, while Royal Blood and Jamie T are named in seven categories.
The Fire hitmakers are on the shortlists for Best British Band, Best Album, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Music Film, Dancefloor Filler, Music Moment of the Year and Best Fan Community.
The band said: "2014 has been such an incredible year for us, and being nominated for eight NME Awards is a better Christmas present than getting Castle Greyskull in '86! Thanks very much!"
NME Editor Mike Williams added: "From massive comebacks to huge breakthroughs, the fact that Kasabian, Royal Blood and Jamie T are leading the way shows what an outstanding year it's been for British rock music.
"Last year was the biggest year ever for the NME Awards with Austin, Texas, and 2015 is already shaping up to be the best yet. Get voting!"
