The Paparazzi singer spoke about her ordeal on The Howard Stern Show
Lady Gaga looked in high spirits as she left her New York hotel following her horrifying rape revelations earlier this week.
The brunette singer showed off her style in a vibrant red leather playsuit and matching hat - complete with half eye mask - on Tuesday afternoon.
The Born This Way singer looked her usual trendy self as she attended the H&M flagship store with BFF Tony Bennett.
The fashion icons held hands as they arrived at the store in co-ordinated outfits.
Yesterday, Lady Gaga revealed that she suffered from abuse as teen after being questioned by radio DJ Howard Stern over whether she had been raped.
The Bad Romance singer appeared on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, where she revealed that her song, Swine, was about rape.
Stern was questioning Gaga, 28, over the song after it made headlines when she debuted the track at SXSW in March.
During the performance of the show, Gaga asked her pal, vomit painter Millie Brown, to join her on stage and vomit paint all over her.
In defence of the show, Gaga said: "Just lighten up! It's art! My friend Millie—she lives in London—it's her art form. She doesn't eat food and vomit it up.
"She swallows gallons of paint, OK? She's a hardcore bitch. She swallows paint and then she regurgitates it on canvases in rainbows and colour.”
Of the song itself, Gaga said: "I wrote a song called 'Swine.' The song is about rape. The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release.
"I said to myself, 'I want to sing this song while I'm ripping hard on a drum kit, and then I want to get on a mechanical bull'—which is probably one of the most demoralising things that you can put a female on in her underwear—'and I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world so that I can tell them, you know what? You could never, ever degrade as much as I could degrade myself, and look how beautiful it is when I do.'"
Stern then asked the pop star: "You keep alluding to...were you raped?"
But Gaga does not say that she was raped. She did stumble over the answer, as she said: "I don't...I don't want to... Happy times! Let's talk about happy things!"
Gaga, who has a long term boyfriend, actor Taylor Kinney, continued: "I went through some horrific things that I'm able to laugh [at] now, because I've gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years.
"My music's been wonderful for me. But, you know, I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself. To be fair, I was about 19.
"I went to Catholic school and then all this crazy stuff happened, and I was going, 'Oh, is this just the way adults are?'...I was very naïve."
The star, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, continued: "It happens every day, and it's really scary, and it's sad. It didn't affect me as much right after as it did about four or five years later.
"It hit me so hard. I was so traumatized by it that I was like, 'Just keep going.' Because I just had to get out of there."
Gaga explained to the America’s Got Talent judge and his co-host Robin Quivers that she had not been “willing to admit that anything had even happened”.
"I don't want to be defined by it,” Gaga stated. “I'll be damned if somebody's gonna say that every creatively intelligent thing that I ever did is all boiled down to one d--khead who did that to me.
"I'm going to take responsibility for all my pain looking beautiful. All the things that I've made out of my strife, I did that."
Gaga, who claims that she saw the man once and she had been “paralysed by fear”.
"Because it wasn't until I was a little bit older that I went, 'Wow, that was really messed up,’” she said.
"You were 20 years older than me. I was a kid." Gaga said. "It took me a long time to feel strong about it."
She added: "I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't tell anybody. And I didn't even tell myself for the longest time. And then I was like, 'You know what? All this drinking and all this nonsense, you have to go to the source, otherwise it just won't go away. It will not go away."
