Known only as William, the amateur opera singer was spurred on by a group of friends who performed their own version of the Frozen hit Let It Go

This train passenger has become a viral sensation after he was filmed belting out an opera classic in full voice as pals egged him on to perform his party piece.

The man, known only as William, sang Nessun Dorma - from Giacomo Puccini's Turandot - to passengers on the last train from Glasgow to Hamilton on Saturday.

Nessun Dorma achieved a new wave of fans when a version performed by Luciano Pavarotti was adopted as the theme for the Italia 90 World Cup.

William was inspired after a group of friends nearby performed their own version of the Frozen hit Let It Go, reports the Daily Record.

Scott Thompson - who filmed the clip - and his friends were stunned when they realised the man could not only sing, but could have given Pavarotti a run for his money.

He urged his pals to share the footage, which has now amassed hundreds of views.

William's impressive performance received a standing ovation from fellow passengers.
