Emergency services were called out to the Cardiff Bay branch earlier today - 45 minutes after another branch was evacuated in Croydon
An Ikea store was evacuated after a suspicious package was discovered on a delivery trailer.
Three staff members were taken to hospital after coming into contact with a skin irritant in a package found at the Cardiff Bay branch, Wales Online reports.
And less than 45 minutes earlier, another branch in Croydon was evacuated after a fire alarm was sounded.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called to the Ikea store on Ferry Road in Cardiff at 11.42am today following the discovery of a suspicious package containing a skin irritant aboard a delivery trailer.
“The store has been evacuated and three members of staff have been taken to UHW as a precaution.
“Measures are being taken to identify the nature of the substance within the package.”
IKEA Cardiff store manager Mike Hawkins said: “The safety of our customers and co-workers is always highest priority for IKEA.
"We can confirm that the IKEA Cardiff store was evacuated today as a precautionary measure after a suspicious package containing a skin irritant was found by co-workers unloading a delivery trailer.
"The emergency services were immediately called and are currently investigating the situation. The affected co-workers have been taken to hospital.
“The store will remain closed until the investigation is completed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”
At around 11am another Ikea branch in Croydon was also evacuated, after a fire alarm went off.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said a crew had investigated and found there was no fire.
