Man buys eBay item from Japanese seller - you won't believe what he received

A man had sent off for a parcel to be shipped from Japan but received a few things as an added bonus

Thousands of eBay transactions happen every day.

But one man got more than he bargained for when he ordered an item from a seller in Japan.

The eager-to-please seller clearly takes customer satisfaction very seriously because included with the item were - a new friend and a Pokemon card.

A note inside the packaging said the card was "a bonus" gift to the buyer.

The note added: "I have a facebook. Please contact me.

"And, let's be friends."

Customs, etiquette and traditions are part and parcel of Japanese life.

And after details of the story appeared online, some people speculated the seller was observing the cultural practice of omiyage.

An omiyage is a gift or souvenir that Japanese people pass on to friends, relatives or workers after a trip - echoing our own tradition of buying holiday gifts.

But omiyage can be a serious business in the country, with gift-wrapped items available at specialist shops that are supposed to "excite" the recipient.
