Police are hunting a motorised wheelchair user who mowed down a stranger before his accomplice pushed the victim to the ground, leaving him with a broken jaw.

The victim, Emmanuvel Camisan Judes, 31, was walking home at around 11pm after working a shift at a supermarket when he was set upon by the two men.

He told the Evening Standard he was waiting for a bus near Garratt Lane in Wandsworth, south west London, when the man in the wheelchair asked him: "What are you staring at?"

When he replied, "Nothing", the man rammed the wheelchair into his legs before the second attacker pushed him, causing him to fall backwards.

Mr Judes hit his head on the pavement and suffered a broken jaw, which meant he had to spend his birthday in hospital.

Detectives are investigating the attack on July 25 and have released CCTV stills of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Pushed: The man in the baseball cap is then alleged to have shoved the victim to the ground

The wheelchair user is described as balding and aged between 45 and 50, while his accomplice is aged 20 to 25 and was wearing a black T-shirt and red baseball cap.

Officers said the attackers, who were with a woman who was not involved in the assault, then left in the direction of Wandsworth High Street.

Detective Constable Chris Taylor said: "This attack was completely unprovoked. The victim had just finished the late shift at a local supermarket and was on his way home.

"We know the suspects had been in the Cineworld cinema prior to the offence and came out of the Southside Centre and on to Garratt Lane.

"We are issuing CCTV images of the group and I would hope that someone would be able recognise them."

Anyone with information can call DC Taylor at Wandsworth CID on 020 3276 2582 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
