THE trailer for the seventh instalment in the popular Fast & Furious series has been released and crictics are already calling it “spectacular”.

Set for release in April 2015, the latest instalment in the franchise marks the final big screen appearance for star Paul Walker, who died in a fiery car crash in November last year while the film was still in production.

It’s understood that Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, will be ‘retired’ rather than killed off in the new film, allowing the franchise more room to continue.

In Furious 7, after defeating Owen Shaw and his crew, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew are able to return to the United States and live the normal life again as they had wanted, but Owen’s older brother, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), is after Dominic, seeking revenge for the death of his brother, putting the entire crew in danger once more. After learning of Han’s death, the crew sets out to find the man who killed one of their own, before he finds them first.

Walker’s tragic death at just 40 years of age forced filmmakers to use inventive means to complete his scenes in the film — since Walker’s passing, his brothers Caleb and Cody have both been used as stand-ins for his role. It’s understood CGI will also play a part in bringing Walker to the screen.

The trailer comes after an earlier teaser which was made up of clips from the previous six films was released.
