A giant SWASTIKA has been spotted in the swimming pool of a luxury mansion.

The symbol, photographed from a police helicopter flying overhead, was infamously used by the Nazi Party in Germany during the rule of Adolf Hitler in the 1930s and 40s.

There is no suggestion that the owner of this pool is displaying the swastika for political reasons.

But the symbol is deeply offensive to many around the globe, especially communities, such as the Jews, who suffered under Nazi terror during the Second World War.

The swastika was spotted in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.

Terror: The Swastika became infamous as a symbol of the Nazi Party under Adolf Hitler

The chopper was involved in a kidnapping investigation at the time, the Daily Mail reports.

Police said the unnamed homeowner would not be charged as the swastika is on private land and was not on display to promote Nazism.

The symbol has reportedly been in the pool for more than a decade.

The region the house is based in has a history of immigration from European nations including Germany and Austria.

Banned: Displaying the offensive symbol is banned in several countries - including Germany

Many Nazis escaped justice after the Second World War by fleeing to South America, including countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

There is no suggestion the owner of this pool has ever had anything to do with Nazism.

The swastika is not just a symbol of the German Nazi Party.

It is also a sacred symbol for religions including Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
