A cabbie whose photograph went viral when he invited a teenager in to have a brew and watch Take Me Out has said 'I'd do the same for anybody'.

Taxi driver Ujal SIngh, 39, didn't realise 18-year-old Mike Allison had fallen asleep in the back of his minibus after picking him and 19 friends up at Deansgate Locks.

He drove the group 40 miles back to Northwich, then to his family home in Stretford - singing along to music at top volume all the way.

But Mike, who'd had a few drinks, was missed by his friends when they got out and only woke up when Ujal parked outside his house nearly two hours later.

Dad-of-three Ujal took pity on the lost teen - and invited him in for a brew, where the pair settled down to watch an episode of Take Me Out, recorded earlier in the night.

Ujal says he had no idea A level student Mike had tweeted a photo of him as he waited for friends to come and pick him up - only realising he had 'gone viral' when a friend drove from Eccles to tell him.

Ujal, married to wife Ramesh Kaur, 39 and dad to Gudas, 14, Reena, 11 and Jaidas-Shaun, three, told the Manchester Evening News: "I had my Asian music on full blast and was singing along all the way back from Northwich, I can't believe he didn't wake up.

"I think he was quite scared when he realised he was lost so of course I invited him in for a brew, it was minus one.

"I'd do that for anybody - he was only a young lad.

"He needed a charger for his iPhone to call his friends and then I waited with him.

"There was nothing else on at 5am in the morning so I put an episode of Take Me Out on I'd recorded while I was at work.

"It's a top programme, I'm glued to it.

"I've not heard from the young lad since but I'd take him home again - just
make sure he gets off the bus this time."

Mike has since seen his tweet, reading "Fell asleep in the taxi and none woke me up. Now I'm back at the taxi man's house in Stretford watching take me out" re-tweeted 25,000 times, including by the show's host Paddy McGuinness.

Mike said: "I'd like to say thank you to Ujal again because he was so kind and generous considering the circumstances.

"This whole thing has been a bit weird - I tweeted one thing and it's gone everywhere.

"I'll definitely never fall asleep in a taxi again but I should probably get better mates as well who will wake me up."
