It's an iconic moment of the show when we're told who 'the Oscar' has gone to, but the 12 Years a Slave actress got tongue-tied while presenting the Best Supporting Actor prize to J.K. Simmons.
She said: "The actor goes to... the Oscar goes to J.K. Simmons."
Thankfully, she took it in her stride and laughed it off before correcting herself and welcoming him to the stage.
The Whiplash star took home the prize after impressing the Academy with his performance in Whiplash and thanked his family in a heartwarming speech.
He said: "I am grateful every day for the most wonderful person I know, my wife, the wonderful Michelle Schumacher."
He also thanked his children and parents, and urged everyone in the audience to call their mum and dad whenever possible.
He added: "Listen to them for as long as they want to talk to you."
The stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the annual ceremony, with the biggest names in Hollywood in attendance.
Eddie Redmayne continued his impressive and successful award season so far with more recognition for his performance in The Theory of Everything, after even Benedict Cumerbatch's parents tipped him to win over their son.
Meanwhile, the ceremony saw Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel dominate the awards with four prizes each.
Alejandro Gonzalez Inurritu's movie took home the Best Picture, Directing, Original Screenplay and Cinematography trophies on a very special night for the filmmaker.
Tying with four gongs of its own, Wes Anderson's film was honoured for Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design and Best Original score.
