Shade alert!
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's dreams came true with a Vogue magazine spread in April 2014 — just a month before the couple's jetsetting wedding. In what seemed like the impossible, the fashion glossy got onboard, naming them #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple on its cover.

Seven months later (and on the conveniently timed heels of Kardashian's Internet-breaking nude spread with Paper magazine), editor Anna Wintour opened up about the controversial Kimye cover in a conversation series at the Metropolitan Museum of New York on Monday, Nov. 17, with former CNN journalist Alina Cho.
"The first celebrity that I put on the cover of Vogue was Madonna, and that was considered completely controversial at that time, too," she reflected at the event, according to Fashionista.com.

"Now she's part of the establishment. I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine! Nobody would talk about us." Adding, even with the mag's image, "It's very important that people do talk about us."

The editor even offered her opinion on Kardashian's younger half-sister Kendall Jenner's entrance into the fashion world, and her recent appointment as face of Estee Lauder cosmetics.
"What a fantastic decision that was! They have a wonderful brand that's very traditional American, and they decided they want to shake it up and reach a different audience," Wintour said. "Now and again one has to do things like that. I think it's partly of the excitement of being a journalist. I hope another Kim Kardashian comes along this year!"
