However with some copper colour in it, the grunge look actually suited the 24-year-old quite well.
But the Twilight star has pushed it to the limit as she was photographed arriving at Los Angeles International Airport.
Not only has her 'fro been stripped off the vibrant shade she was sporting, but it's also lost a few extra inches in the process.
It was a whole new level of bed head for the brunette who appeared like she hadn't even looked in the mirror, nevermind brushed her locks.
Couple that with the denim vest she was wearing and it wasn't a pretty sight in the slightest.

When Ashley Cole broke her heart in 2010, Cheryl responded by breaking open a box of red hair dye. Thankfully it was just a passing phase. We think.

When Cameron Diaz dated Justin Timberlake back in 2006/7, we thought that they were going to live Happily Ever After and have loads of babies and dogs and cats and Lakeland Limited kitchen utensils and things. Then they split up, and we went into mourning.

One of our favourite famous person fantasties was that Russell Brand and Katy Perry would spend evenings by the fireside, taking it in turn to braid each other's hair and swap anecdotes about their days. Then they split up, and Katy was left without a man's locks to wrap around her little finger or run her thumbs through. And when there's that kind of hole in your life, there's really only one thing left to fill it with. And it's called hair dye.
THREE: Rachael McAdams

We did the same thing to our Barbie dolls with a felt tip pen when we were seven. Pretty much a given, really. But five years on, we're still willing to bet that it's all Veet Hair Removal Cream in Britney's house, and no razors within reach.
ONE: Tulisa Contostavlos
Again, we don't really know what the story is because we were too busy focusing in on her follicles (that's a lie - we know all about everything that happened with Tulisa and the sex tape, we just don't want to type it all out again ) but basically Tulisa's ex boyfriend released a sex tape of the singer. She got mad. She took him to court. She dyed her hair to show how her life hasn't been ruined by all of this. And then she got on a private jet and flew to Ibiza.
Which doesn't sound too bad. Really.
